5 Matches You Have To Watch This Week (21/08-27/08)

Europe’s top 5 league’s are all underway and the football season is well and truly back. Here is 5 games live on TV this week that you have to watch.

#5 Monday 21st August: Man City v Everton- Live on Sky Sports

Manchester City host Everton tonight in Pep Guardiola’s first home game of the season. Both sides recorded a victory on the opening match day and you can expect an end to end encounter at the Etihad. Manchester City have been freely spending this season, as have Everton and both sides have bolstered their sides from last season.

Even with their loss of Lukaku, to Man Utd, Everton look a strong team this season and could provide Man City with some problems. Gylfi Sigurdsson could make his debut for the Toffee’s and his goal threat and chance creation can unlock any defence.

I expect Man City to be too strong at home however and should record the victory over Everton.

Score Prediction- Man City 2-1 Everton

#4 Tuesday 22nd August: FC Astana v Celtic- Live on BT Sport

Scottish Champions Celtic take a 5 goal lead over to Kazakhstan and are expected to cruise through to the next round. This is on my list for games to watch due to its significance on Scottish football.

Celtic’s progression will help raise country coefficient points and if Celtic go through their is a cash prize for every other Premiership team. That could mean a new signing, more money in youth development for our sides. Celtic should be comfortably through barring any major calamities.

The trip to Astana will prove tough, a grueling trip half way across the world, in extreme heat on a plastic pitch makes things harder but Celtic should have no problem in seeing off their opponents.

This game is so difficult to predict in terms of a scoreline. I feel that it will be a close game with Astana obviously having to come out and have a real go.

Score Prediction: Astana 1-1 Celtic

#3 Saturday 26th August: Manchester United v Leicester City- Live on BT Sport

Manchester United host Leicester City in the evening game on Saturday night. The Red Devils have started the season in spectacular form winning both their 2 opening games 4-0 and lifting themselves straight to the top of the league.

Leicester have started with 1 win and 1 draw as they look to improve on the season last year. A top half finish searching for European spots is surely Leicester’s aim this season and picking up any points on the road here will go a long way to achieving that.

Manchester United will be at the top end of the table come the end of the season. Although their defence has still to be properly tested, Man Utd look strong this season and Mourinho will be pushing all the way to the title.

Score Prediction- Manchester United 3-1 Leicester

#2 Saturday 26th August: Roma v Inter Milan- Live on BT Sport

Two of Italy’s giants go head to head as Roma host Inter Milan. Both sides won their opening league games and will be looking to make it 2 out of 2. Both respected footballing powerhouses both Roma and Inter will be looking to return to the summit of Italy this season.

A toxic noisy atmosphere will await Inter’s players here and that atmosphere can make or break players in game. Some will rise to the occasion, others will go missing for 90 minutes.

I expect this game to be a feisty encounter and one where there will be plenty of goals. I can’t split these 2 teams so going for the draw.

Score Prediction: Roma 2-2 Inter

#1 Sunday 27th August: Liverpool v Arsenal- Live on Sky Sports

Liverpool host Arsenal on the second part of Sky Sports’ Super Sunday this weekend. Liverpool find themselves unbeaten after 2 games whilst Arsenal have 1 win and 1 draw.

Liverpool v Arsenal games are always filled with action and excitement. Both managers must see this as an early must win game if either side has any concrete title hopes. Liverpool will look to make home advantage count and continue their form of last season of winning the big games.

Arsenal will need to quickly put the disappointment of Saturday’s loss to Stoke out of their minds. It was a hugely disappointing result for the Arsenal faithful and a big response is needed at Anfield. This could be the game where Arsenal show the have the bottle to challenge for a title but I doubt it.

I can only see this game ending one way and that is a victory for Liverpool.

Score Prediction: Liverpool 3-2 Arsenal
